              BIO

The year 2024 marks the return of The Feather, the solo project of Thomas Medard, iconic voice of the band Dan San. In June, he unveiled a captivating cover of Everything But The Girl’s “Missing”, offering a light, summery foretaste. Today, it’s time for new compositions with two new singles: “See You Again” and “Always You”. These tracks were produced, recorded and mixed by Chris Taylor (bassist with Grizzly Bear and collaborator with such talents as Twin Shadow, Dirty Projectors, Moses Sumney, Solange and Aaron Parks). Taylor also lends his voice to the choruses of “See You Again”.

After numerous trips back and forth between Belgium and Spain, where the producer now lives, the final touches were added in Sweden and Los Angeles. The powerful, airy percussion of Thomas Hedlund (Phoenix, Cult of Luna) enriches “See You Again”, while the jazzy, organic rhythms of Kyle Crane (M. Ward, Feist, Peter Bjorn and John…) sublimate “Always You”. These tracks were then mastered by Grammy Award-winner Joe LaPorta, known for his work with David Bowie, Vampire Weekend, Fleet Foxes and Beach House.

After a debut album, Invisible (2013), which took him to some of the world’s biggest stages (from Ancienne Belgique to La Maroquinerie, via the FME and FEQ festivals in Canada), followed by ROOM (2020), a homemade opus acclaimed by the critics (Focus Vif 8/10, Le Soir and Moustique), Thomas Medard takes things to a new level. Opening up to prestigious collaborations, he shapes an increasingly refined and ambitious indie pop.

This return also marks a new milestone for The Feather: his signing to Dutch label PolyMoon, alongside artists such as Noa Lee and Rosa Butsi.
